Financial Aid Timeline

All

January 1st - FAFSA available for the new academic year (August to July). Entering freshmen complete the FAFSA and make sure to have a PIN for both yourself and a parent.

February – Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) staff visit area high schools and help seniors complete their FAFSA and OSFA staff holds "Financial Aid Workshops"

March 15th – Priority Deadline to submit FAFSA for new academic year

FAFSA for new academic year completed Jan-March 15th

March – "We Got It" e-mail sent, read carefully since it will notify you if additional documents need to be submitted to OSFA

April – Submit additional documents being requested by OSFA

May – "Award Letter" sent

June – Accept financial aid offered to you, including registering for any workshops required for your award. Also, read the "Financial Aid Requirements" and "Eligibility" section of our web page

July – Expect tuition invoice sent by Student Business Services Office (SBS). Students are encouraged to compare the invoice with their financial aid offer and determine if full tuition will be covered. If not, contact SBS to establish a payment schedule for the tuition balance

August – Financial aid applies to tuition payment on the tuition payment deadline. SBS sends financial aid refunds the first week of fall term classes

April – expect a notification requesting additional documents

May – submit additional documents as soon as possible

June – Expect an "Award Letter" or "Award Notification" and accept financial aid offered, including registering for any workshops required for your award. Also, read the "Financial Aid Requirements" and "Eligibility" section of our web page

Note: students who submit their FAFSA in June or after will not follow the timeline above. They are encouraged to use MyStatus.utep.edu to receive up to date information on their financial aid status.

Summer Financial Aid:

Summer financial aid is awarded separately from fall and spring financial aid.

March – Summer Survey is made available on Goldmine

April – Summer Award Notifications sent to students who completed the survey by the end of March

July/August – Check Satisfactory Academic Progress for new academic year eligibility

Transfer Students:

Students interested in transferring to UTEP are encouraged to add UTEP’s School Code (003661) two months prior to their begin date at UTEP
