Financial Aid Application Process

1. Apply for Financial Aid

The financial aid application is called the FAFSA. Apply online at fafsa.ed.gov and indicate the UTEP school code of 003661.

Be sure to use FAFSA's "Data Retrieval Tool". If you haven't filed your taxes this year, no problem! You can estimate and update your FAFSA within three weeks of filing your taxes.

If you submit your FAFSA by March 1, UTEP will send you an email by March 15 with information. If you file after March 1, you should hear from us within 2 weeks of submitting your FAFSA.

2. Submit additional documents

On March 1, login to mystatus.utep.edu to view documents that we still need from you. If you submitted your FAFSA after March 1, wait two weeks before checking mystatus.utep.edu

3. Receive Financial Aid award notification

New students will receive a Financial Aid award letter through the mail to their mailing address as indicated on the UTEP information system.

Returning UTEP students will receive an award via your UTEP email account. Awards can be checked on Goldmine (login to goldmine.utep.edu).

4. Accept your Financial Aid award

You must be admitted to UTEP before you can complete this last step of the process. To complete the process and receive your aid, you must agree to accept terms and conditions of your aid. To accept your award, please visit goldmine.utep.edu.
